can you spare any change?

the other day i was walking to the cafe with my bro kale and some homeless dude came up to us and gave us his pitch. he was clearly insane, but he assured us that he laid down the best rhymes of anyone ever, and if we liked them could we please give him some money for the bus?

he then proceeded to tell us his other woes, and then rapped so fast i couldnt even keep up. and then kale gave him a couple bucks.

we aren’t homeless and we can’t rap, but we are in need of a couple bucks. see, we’re making this film called “sins of the dragon.” how badass does that sound?

the story is pretty simple: evil assassin seeks ultimate power by killing the four “dragons” (kung fu masters of almost supernatural ability), inadvertently kills a young boy’s family, young boy grows up and seeks revenge.

but the boy has a friend! shes a she! and its not a romance! how avant garde is that? then they meet vagrant spirits and learn about harmony and the cosmos and kill a bunch of ninjas.

its funny, bloody, and filled with top of the line martial arts fight scenes! aaaaand we’re going to be premiering it at a real movie theater! and going to film festivals!

soo if you can spare any change, just click the link and see what we’re all about. if you cant spare any change, just click the link anyway and tell your friends about it!

we would really appreciate it :)

Why is this such a big deal? Why should anyone care about this movie? What is so special about “Sins of the Dragon” that anyone should donate their hard earned dollars to it?

Well, this is the movie. Let me phrase that again. This is THE movie. The movie we have been talking about since the four of us started making movies together. Every time we would hang out, or not pay attention in Ninjutsu, or be working on another movie, THIS was the movie we were always talking about.

This movie is so important to us. We’ve been tossing around ideas for this film for at least 4 years now. We would spend warm summer nights sitting on Kale’s back porch, writing down cool scenes or bits of dialogue on ratty notebook pages. And slowly it started to come together.

The first few drafts were atrocious. They were epic, on a scale we could never do with such a small cast and crew. So we cut it down. And then we cut it down some more. Until finally we came up with something manageable. Something possible for us to shoot.

And we couldn’t be more proud of it.

Most of our other movies were goofy, stupid, and pretty crude. They lacked anything resembling a plot or character development. But now we have that stuff. And we are so excited about it. We want to tell everyone! We want to show the world what we can do.

Because we’ve had time to master the basics. All the technical stuff. But we have never had an audience, because our films were too silly and vulgar.

But now we have something that we are really proud of. Something that we want to show anyone and everyone who will listen.

Because when it comes down to it, our favorite part of making movies is watching other people watch our movies. And it was something we were missing out on for a while.

But then we premiered FANG in our basement. We have this hilarious picture sitting on all our dressers, of our first premiere; 20 people, all dressed in suits and dresses, crammed into 3 mismatched couches and a handful of random chairs in some dingy basement, watching our movie on this little 30 inch TV screen.

But we wouldn’t have traded that for the world. Me and Kale stood at the back of the crowd (there weren’t even enough seats, so we just stood by the steps) and watched our friends. Would they laugh at the right spots? Gasp when they were supposed to?

That’s kind of when it all meshed together for us. After the movie was over, we had a great party, and everyone was cracking up, telling us their favorite parts of the movie.

We couldn’t wait to do another one. But we couldn’t have another basement premiere. So far, every movie had been a step forward for us.

Now it was time to step forward again. We needed a bigger premiere. We needed more people to see our movie. But we wanted to be seen as more legitimate, not as crude and vulgar. We wanted to make a movie that everyone could see, and it had to be EPIC.

And we had the perfect movie. We’d been talking about it for years. “The kung fu movie.” That’s what we called it all that time. But now we’re ready to show the world.

We’ve done all we can. We set up our own production company (special thanks to my dad for helping us with all the legal paperwork). We got a bank account. We did everything we could.

But now we need help. We don’t have enough of our own money to fund this movie, so we are reaching out to you guys. We don’t intend to come off as selfish or greedy. We don’t want to be annoying, constantly harassing people for money.

We just want people to see our movie. And we need your help to make that movie. So seriously, if you have even $5 that you could donate, it would be a HUGE help to us and we would be really grateful.

Every contribution helps bring our movie closer to a reality! And remember: with Kickstarter, if we don’t raise ALL the money, we get NOTHING!!! No funds will be withdrawn from your account, no money is transferred.

Thanks for all your support!! We really appreciate it!

a kung fu dream

i know you guys all have a lot better things to do with your money, and most of you are probably like “yeah dude, whatever. its a waste of time, but good luck.” but seriously. we are making this happen. this is the movie we’ve been talking about since we started making movies together. we couldn’t shoot any of our other movies without getting distracted and talking about THIS movie. THE movie. the “kung fu movie”, which it was called for like 4 years until this year when we came up with a title. we’d stay up till midnight sitting on kales back porch writing lines of dialogue and cool scenes on ratty notebook pages.

now here we are, 4 years after we originally started talking about it. but we aren’t talking about it anymore. we’re DOING it. we wrote the script. again and again and again…. but now we have it. its as close to perfect as we can hope for. we formed our own production company. set up a bank account. did all the legal stuff. we’re legit now. all we need now is money. we need help. YOUR help! we can’t do this without you guys. really, we’re not trying to be selfish and we’re not trying to be annoying.

we just LOVE making movies. we love showing our movies to our friends and families, we love watching them watch our movies. this is why we make movies, even when most people are like “eh, they’ll grow out of it. some day they’ll find a real job.”

but i dont want a real job. i want to make movies. and right now, we need help. so just click the link and at least watch our little video. if nothing else you will be entertained. but seriously, if you’ve got even 5 bucks lying around, it would be a huge help to us. thanks for everyones support so far!  we’re over halfway there!

Day 2: Your favourite game

This is my absolute favourite game ever. I’ve played it a million times and its probably one of the first few games I played on an XBox which I absolutely fell in love with. It started my love for rpg games <3 Now thinking about it makes me want to play again, except its sitting back home in Malaysia..end of the year, time to bring back fond memories :)
